Christmas Fruit Cake in minutes
Preparation time: 30-40 minutes
Baking time: 1 hr serves: 10
INGREDIENTS:
• 1 tin (400g) NESTLE MILKMAID Sweetened Condensed Milk
• 100g Butter
• ½ cup (75g) Sugar
• 2 cups (200g) Maida
• 1 tbsp Baking Powder
• 1 tbsp Soda bicarbonate
• ½ tbsp Cinnamon Powder
• ½ tbsp Nutmeg Powder
• 1 ½ cups, chopped (150g) Mixed dried fruits (cashew nuts, almonds, walnuts, cherries, orange peel)
• 150 ml Aerated Soda
Step 1
Preheat oven to 180 C, grease and powder with maida an 8” dia round cake tin. Heat up sugar in a pan till it melt and becomes brown, add temperate water to make caramel syrup and stay aside. Sift together the maida, baking powder, soda bicarbonate, cinnamon and nutmeg, 2-3 times. Mix up 1 tbsp. maida into the chopped fruit to coat the fruit.
Step 2
Make softer butter in a saucepan; mix in NESTLE MILKMAID Sweetened Condensed Milk. Fold up in the sifted maida with the NESTLE MILKMAID butter mixture, varying with aerated soda and caramel syrup till all are used. Add the chopped dry fruits, fold into the blend carefully.
Step 3
Pour the butter into the greased cake tin and bake for an hour at 180 C or till the cake is done. take away from oven, cool for a while. Untie sides of cake and produce onto a plate. Cool somewhat before wounding into pieces.
